SDITS12 – An attitude changing event
03 May 2012
As audience figures for The Service Desk & IT Support Show 2012 increased by 13% reaction to the all new AssetStudio® saw the Certero stand awash with new visitors and customers alike.
Whilst this was our 3rd Year at the Service Desk & IT Support Show, this year’s two day event gave us the feeling that there was a real change happening in the market. Organisations were looking for technology that could improve relations between IT and the business – software that works for them, not the other way around.
There was a great atmosphere from the start of the first Breakfast Briefing and the Seminar Session delivered by Calum Kilgour did not fail to disappoint visitors. With references from Alien Vs Predator to the launch of the first computer the session “Applying SAM to Virtualisation” explained why the current explosion in Virtualisation technology presents an enormous challenge for Software Asset Management, and the integration between the two will utterly transform the IT environment.
With a series of colourful observations and a thought provoking piece from Certero customer Ideal Standard International, the session quickly identified that as many as 20% of organisations had been audited by a software vendor – a figure which proved shocking to those visitors in Seminar Theatre 3. But help was at hand when Certero customer Paul Tate was able to discuss how the complex licensing scenarios were managed at Ideal Standard International enabling them to achieve an Optimised Licence Position (OLP).
The conversations Certero continued to have with visitors explained that the Software Management implications of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) in the workplace were presenting challenges to ensure that the software installed is licensed. These not only have to be licensed correctly but may also lead to the software leaving the organisation once the employee leaves. Organisations were keen to solve these real world challenges and the demonstrations that took place indicated that the all new AssetStudio® solution is truly built for today’s customer’s needs.
The new AssetStudio® modular architecture facilitates any ITAM and SAM challenge. With 10 plug in modules organisations will be given a single holistic view to manage their software assets and with the added value of Acquaintia® reporting endless asset information is transformed into actionable business intelligence.
