Centralised asset management solution gives Xentrall accurate and reliable information
Xentrall Shared Services has selected IT asset management specialist, Certero, to provide a centralised system that gives complete visibility of its IT network and software licences. Xentrall, the partnership between Darlington and Stockton Borough Councils, will implement Certero’s AssetStudio™ and Software Metering for Decision Makers tools to better understand and manage its assets, including software licences for 6,000 assets, across 100 offices.
Certero’s AssetStudio™ is a web-based IT asset management system that will provide Xentrall with a centralised repository for recording licence documentation, purchase information, physical evidence, and reduce any non-compliant issues. Software Metering for Decision Makers™ is a passive metering tool that will help identify unused or underutilised software across thin and fat clients within the company.
Darlington and Stockton Borough Councils set up Xentrall Shared Services to deliver key back office transactional services and cost savings. Xentrall’s proactive approach quickly identified that it needed a consolidated asset management system to provide accurate information about its entire IT network.
Kelvin McIvor, Business Analyst at Xentrall Shared Services, explains, “When the partnership was formed, we realised that we needed one system, rather than the two that were already in place. The network discovery, inventory, configuration and licence management features of AssetStudio™ will give us full visibility of our IT estate, and with complete awareness of our assets we can take control of our network, particularly as we look to transform the partnership’s services and improve sustainability.
“Certero’s Software Metering for Decision Makers™ will provide the information we need to free up and transfer existing licences to new users as we grow and expand. Rather than spend money on new licences, we can identify and reallocate our existing ones.”
John Lunt, managing director and co-founder of Certero, adds, “AssetStudio™ and Software Metering for Decision Makers™ give Xentrall the power to control its estate as it works to increase efficiencies, improve service capacity and resilience. With our help, Xentrall can ensure the Council partnership is constantly looking at ways to save money, improve services and maximise resources.”
Certero won the contract as part of a tender secured by Axios Systems.
