Certero has announced that following a successful tender, it has been chosen to provide a power management product recommended under the new NHS Shared Business Service (SBS) Procurement framework.
In conjunction with its alliance partner Insight, NHS organisations will benefit from competitive pricing when purchasing Certero’s PowerStudio, a web-based management application that allows public and private sector organisations to easily apply power policies and profiles across all their desktops.
NHS SBS works with 40% of NHS Trusts to provide shared business services such as Finance and Accounting, Payroll and Family Health Services. A unique joint venture between the Department of Health and Steria, NHS SBS was established in 2005 to help NHS Trusts streamline back-office functions and deliver greater operational efficiency, thus enabling key staff to focus on frontline care.
With the NHS striving to be a leading sustainable and low carbon organisation, many NHS organisations are looking at new ways of saving energy, and lowering their carbon footprint to meet the Government’s target of a 34% reduction in carbon emissions by 2020. Certero is already helping NHS organisations, with nearly 10% of NHS Trusts already adopting PowerStudio including Barts and the London NHS Trust, North Mersey HIS and NHS Wiltshire.
They are all using PowerStudio to place PCs into hibernation, standby and shutdown as well as automatic start-up for maintenance out of office hours. Critically, PowerStudio saves documents before running the automatic policies to prevent the frustrating loss of work many organisations fall victim to. It also has the ability to wake up remote PCs via web browser, mobile device and email.
Commenting on PowerStudio’s selection as a recommended power management solution for NHS organisations, John Lunt, Managing Director of Certero, said: “PowerStudio’s selection as one of the products that the NHS can purchase through the framework agreement, is testimony to the measurable cost and energy saving benefits that it delivers. Furthermore, its selection is also an endorsement of the work Certero has already conducted in helping NHS organisations to realise considerable cost and energy savings."
