Forth Ports and Port of Tilbury are the latest organisations to adopt Certero’s PC Power Management solution, PowerStudio®. Providing logistic related services to customers who are looking for solutions to move goods cost effectively and efficiently, Forth Ports and Port of Tilbury selected the solution to apply power saving policies to its computer fleet to automatically power-down and placed PC’s and laptops into standby, when not in use.
Both Forth Ports and Port of Tilbury have taken advantage of the solution to save energy, reduce CO2 and quickly lower electricity bills for PCs, laptops and thin clients. Organisations in the private sector have a responsibility to reduce carbon emissions as part of the Government’s mandatory CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme and require solutions that contribute to the bottom line of the organisation immediately.
The Enterprise solution features a management console that provides organisations with accurate data with the ability to apply multiple locations i.e. Building, Counties, multi-tariffs accommodating different energy costs and CO2 values by suppliers and independent device kWh (using an Energy Star database) giving the most accurate data available.
Coupled with a Dynamic Reporting Application – Acquaintia™ – this enables organisations to quickly ask questions via a parameter driven interface and displays answers through easy to understand powerful interactive and widgets that can be placed on your personal dashboard.
Forth Ports operates seven ports - Dundee on the River Tay, Tilbury on the River Thames and five ports on the Firth of Forth - Leith, Grangemouth, Methil, Burntisland and Rosyth. The port activities make Forth Ports the largest port grouping in Scotland.
The Port of Tilbury is London’s major port providing fast, modern distribution services for the benefit of the south east of England. It is the UK’s leading paper handling port and has a strong position in containers, bulk commodities and construction and building materials.
Tilbury’s strategic location on the River Thames, makes it the natural point for distribution for developments such as the 2012 Olympics and the Thames Gateway. Serving the UK’s market for forest products, general cargo, vehicles, grain and other bulks, the port offers customers excellent transport links to and from the capital and across the South East.
John Lunt, managing director and co-founder of Certero, says,”The Private Sector has an enormous challenge to face in meeting the Government’s Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) targets and enhancing its green credentials. Forth Ports and Port of Tilbury have recognised the benefits of using a PC Power Management solution to identify the savings to be made and take action by applying power saving policies, helping them to achieve the targets simply and efficiently.”
