Gentoo Group reduces carbon footprint with Certero

Gentoo Group has taken positive action to reduce their carbon footprint by using Certero PowerStudio™ energy optimisation suite.

Certero’s intelligent PowerStudio™ software enables the Gentoo Group to take pro-active steps to reduce their IT power usage thus helping to also reduce their carbon footprint. By ensuring that PCs are not using power when not necessary, nothing is being left to chance. By taking seriously the challenges all organisations with an IT infrastructure face, Gentoo Group can start to reduce energy consumption and reap the benefits immediately. For example, a policy can be created to automatically switch off monitors and place PCs onto standby or hibernation when computers are idle, enabling energy savings of up to £48 and 642 kWh per PC per annum to be achieved.

John Lunt, managing director and co-founder of Certero, says, “We’ve specifically designed PowerStudio™ to efficiently manage all desktop elements which demonstrably contribute to green computing targets. It’s great that we can help organisations reduce its carbon footprint and prolong the life of computer equipment, as well as helping the organisation to potentially save thousands of pounds on energy bills.”
