Surrey Police Authority selects PowerStudio® to deploy across regional IT estate
25 February 2011

Surrey Police Authority (SPA) was established in 1995 to make sure that Surrey Police are accountable to the people living and working in Surrey, and that the public can have their say in how the county is policed.
The Authority:
• Sets policing priorities and monitors the performance of Surrey Police
• Appoints the Chief Constable and the Chief Officer team
• Monitors the handling of complaints against the police
• Consults with the people of Surrey to identify their policing priorities and makes sure that their council tax money is spent effectively
• Sets the budget and council tax contributions to policing
PowerStudio® saves energy, reduces CO2 and quickly lowers electricity bills for PC’s, Laptops and Thin Clients. The advanced software helped Surrey Police Authority to set centralised power policies in accordance with user activity to prolong the life of computer equipment, reduce electricity consumption and meet environmental computing targets.
Each PC left on when not in use can produce over half a tonne of greenhouse gas annually. PowerStudio® allows Surrey Police Authority to set policies that automatically switches off monitors and places PCs into standby or hibernation when computers are idle, enabling energy savings of up to £48 per year.
Surrey Police Authority deployed PowerStudio® to 2960 desktops and were able to half the computer idle time across their entire PC estate, resulting in savings of over £44,000 and providing a return on Investment in 6 months.
Certero Managing Director John Lunt comments on the acquisition: "We are very excited to be working with Surrey Police Authority to help improve its energy and financial resources. PowerStudio® is specifically designed to efficiently manage all desktop elements and demonstrably contribute to green computing targets which will enable Surrey Police Authority to quickly see a return on investment."
